Adequate and quality funding is essential for the Special Trust Fund of Afghanistan (STFA) to work jointly with the Participating United Nations Organizations (PUNOs) and effectively address the humanitarian catastrophe and the socio-economic collapse in Afghanistan. To enable people and communities to withstand these shocks, immediate support for basic human needs, livelihoods and community resilience is paramount. In this context, Area-based Approach for Development Emergency Initiatives Strategy, referred to ABADEI Strategy has been developed, to support basic human needs that will enable people and communities to withstand these shocks. The interventions proposed under the ABADEI Strategy, undertaken alongside the humanitarian response, aim to mitigate, and hopefully avert, the immediate impact of the crisis on lives and livelihoods.

The Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan has been established to support ABADEI joint programme. The Fund will serve as an inter-agency mechanism to enable donors to channel their resources and coordinate their support for the ABADEI strategy.

In order to achieve our objectives, STFA relies entirely on contributions from UN Member States, multilateral organizations, private sector and other sources
